Dr. Baro Hyun is the Founder & CEO of LunaTone Inc., a Japan- and Korea-based company driving innovation at the intersection of gaming, education, and cultural content. A former aerospace engineer turned global content strategist, Dr. Hyun has built programs for governments, universities, and international organizations—while also collaborating with leading industry players such as Riot Games, The Pokémon Company, and T1.
His initiatives span award-winning digital tourism projects, workforce development programs, metaverse-based education, and AI-powered game production—bridging local culture with global platforms. He is the author of Demystifying Esports and serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Temple University Japan.
Dr. Hyun earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and began his career as a senior researcher at Hyundai Motors R&D. Before founding LunaTone, he established and led KPMG Consulting Japan¡¯s Digital Content Advisory practice, advising clients such as Japan¡¯s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan Esports Union (JeSU). Today, he works across private and public sectors to co-create future-facing ecosystems that empower the next generation of content creators, technologists, and cultural innovators.

He has conducted extensive research in the field of game artificial intelligence, covering not only theoretical foundations but also practical industrial applications.
His major research interests include large-scale simulation data analysis, adaptive NPC design, and the development of strategic AI using reinforcement and imitation learning.
Currently, he serves as the principal investigator of a national R&D project on game AI, where he is leading efforts to establish standards for next-generation intelligent game technologies and to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia.
He also works closely with domestic and international organizations, contributing to innovation in the gaming industry and to the advancement of future artificial intelligence technologies.
